Dancing has really been on my mind of recent. Partly, or mainly, because of the impending release of Black Swan, but almost definitely due to my addiction with the Xbox Dance Central game my friend got for Christmas. I went to my friend Sarah's house last week, and although I'm not usually into video games - apart from that year I was addicted to World of Warcraft... Shh, don't tell a soul! - but her little sister had received an Xbox, and well, we couldn't resist. I was instantly reminded of that Nineties favourite... the dance mat. Though the Xbox Dance Central is like the dance mat's cooler more tech savvy older sister. Its fiercely addictive, like, really addictive. Especially with my guilty pleasure, Lady Gaga, blasting from the speakers and the incredibly realistic characters. Even though I'm technically trained in contemporary dance, the moves were a far cry from the moves we encountered in this game!
Speaking of contemporary dance, I'm so obsessed with the soon to be released film "Black Swan". The eerily beautiful flick is centered around the pursuits of a ballet dancer (Natalie Portman) who slowly realised her dark side, her inner "Black Swan". With Aronofsky directing and the costumes designed by Rodarte (whom I adore!) it definitely should make for a captivating movie in my opinion! I'm a sucker for Natalie Portman. Besides, my friends, Thea, Daisy, Freya and Lizzie - who have already seen the movie - assure me that my mild obsession with the film isnt unwarranted, and it really is as good as I hope!

After rewatching the trailer over and over I really regret stopping ballet training. There's something so elegant about dancers! Unfortunately, I didnt have the stunningly beautiful creations by the Mulleavy sisters to pirouette in on my friends Xbox, but my red velvet dress did the job. (More about that on RAGS) Though, my obsession with velvet seems to be fading, stepping aside and making room for a new wardrobe favourite - black lace. Especially as Carolina pulls it off so well. Perhaps I'll channel my own inner Black Swan this year.
